Background
Assessment of Life skills and Values in East Africa (ALiVE)
Do our children have life skills and values?
In August 2022, KCSON, in partnership with Uwezo Uganda and the Luigi Giussani Institute of Higher Education, assessed life skills and values among adolescents in 20 enumeration areas of Kagadi District. The study targeted 800 adolescents aged 13–17 years from 400 households, focusing on self‑awareness, problem‑solving, collaboration, and respect.
Findings showed strong self‑management and respect among adolescents but limited problem‑solving skills. Caregivers and adolescents received instant feedback to strengthen their understanding of life skills at all stages of development.
