KCSON/BAPENECO with support from International Alert under the “Enabling the Business and Human Rights Agenda in Albertine region” project has today 23rd Aug 2023 organised a meeting to disseminate the 2020/21 EITI report to stakeholders at Sub-National level to create discussions on elements related to Business and Human Rights to improve understanding on extractive industries at HB Hotel in Hoima-city.
During the meeting the UGEITI secretariat and URSB took participants through the 2020/21 EITI report and beneficial ownership respectively.
In attendance was representatives from different Civil Society Organisations across mid-albertine region and representatives from local government from Districts of (Hoima, Hoima, Kikube and Masindi), the private sector, BKK and media.
Paul Mulindwa – ED KCSON applauded the EITI secretariat for accepting the invitation to to dissemination of the report at sub national level.He also tasked participants to carefully study the report and use it to better their advocacy with facts.
In her closing remarks, the deputy CAO Hoima District Ms. Kemigisa Harriet thanked KCSON for organizing the meeting and requested the technical staff present to discuss the findings in their respective TPC meetings and also appealed to the civil society to utilize the report for meaningful advocacy.
