Natural Forest Regeneration for Enhanced Carbon Stocks in the Albertine Rift (FRECAR) is implemented in the Bugoma-Kagombe Landscape which comprises of Bugoma, Kyamurangi Group of CFRs, Kagombe, and Kitechura/ Ibambaro CFRs. The Project aims at increasing and registering carbon Stocks, while improving community well-being, and conserving biodiversity in the Bugoma-Kagombe land scape. In terms of implementation, the project has multiple partners including WWF, NFA and KCSON.
Kitara Civil Society Organisations’ Network (KCSON) was sub granted in June 2022 by WWF-UCO to implement actions for the improvement of Livelihoods of community members adjacent to Kangombe CFR in the two Districts of Kibaale (in the Sub Counties of Kabasekende, Nyamarunda and Kyakazihire) and Kagadi (Kagadi Sub County).
Then in 2023, the scale of operation expanded to include Kyegeggwa, Kyenjojo along Ibambaro and Kitechura Central forest reserves.
Implementation is being done with support from District local governments and NFA
