KCSON Supports Dissemination of EITI Report 2020/21 at Sub-national level.

KCSON/BAPENECO, with support from International Alert, held a meeting on 23rd August 2023 in Hoima to share the 2020/21 EITI report and engage stakeholders on business and human rights in the extractive sector.

During the meeting, the UGEITI secretariat and URSB took participants through the 2020/21 EITI report and beneficial ownership respectively.

In attendance were representatives from various Civil Society Organisations across the Mid-Albertine region, and representatives from local governments of Hoima, Kikuube, and Masindi Districts, as well as the private sector, BKK, and media.

Paul Mulindwa – ED KCSON applauded the EITI secretariat for honoring the invitation to disseminate the report at the sub-national level. He encouraged participants to study the report and use it for fact-based advocacy.

In her closing remarks, the Deputy CAO Hoima District, Ms. Kemigisa Harriet, thanked KCSON for organizing the meeting. She urged technical staff to discuss the findings in their respective TPC meetings and called on civil society to utilize the report for impactful advocacy.
