VSLA Inculcates Saving Culture Among Women and Youths.

Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) have provided alternative source of money to communities adjacent to natural resources. The saving culture of members in these groups has grown in evidenced in the table below. The money in the VSLA helps members to access loans without collateral security demanded by money obtained from the VSLA which has improved their standard of living.

VSLA

The village savings and loans associations (VSLA) that begun with a mere shs.220,000/= has grown to over shs.11 million and the women can give testimony how they have benefited from the enterprise. Mankuranta Ahabategyeyi says that she acquired a loan of shs.700,000/= and bought a heifer and thank God that WWF and KCSON came to our village they are like God given gift to us,” said Mankuranta.
