KCSON undertakes interventions aimed at Civil Society Capacity Strengthening for conservation of forest ecosystems

With support from WWF Uganda, KCSON is implementing the Forest Biodiversity project to strengthen civil society capacity for conserving high-value forest ecosystems in the Albertine region, particularly benefiting communities near Bugoma Central Forest Reserve.

Activities focus on improving livelihoods, promoting better conservation practices, and mitigating illegal resource use such as charcoal production, tree felling, agriculture, and timber trading. KCSON supports groups in nature-based enterprises like commercial tree planting, nursery bed management, and apiary management. Mpanga Conservation Development Association has received significant support, including 200 KTB beehives, catcher boxes, beehive suits, and forage.

The project also promotes innovative natural resource management models integrating governance, gender, and human rights through school and community initiatives.
