


On 25th November 2025, KCSON and BAPENECO, in partnership with TotalEnergies, Civil Society Coalition on Oil and Gas (CSCO) , and BIRUDO, convened a highly engaging “Let’s Talk” dialogue at Miika Eco Resort Hotel in Hoima City. The meeting focused on the state of the physical environment in relation to ongoing and upcoming oil and gas activities in the region.
The session brought together key stakeholders-including TotalEnergies, the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), NEMA, and EACOP representatives to openly engage with civil society organizations and local leaders from the Albertine region.


Participants discussed:
Environmental implications of oil and gas operations
Compliance with environmental standards and safeguards
Civil society concerns regarding land use, biodiversity, and waste management
Strengthening collaboration between oil developers, regulators, CSOs, and district authorities
KCSON and BAPENECO reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating meaningful engagement that promotes environmental protection, accountability, and responsible energy development across the region.
